On my way to see the RUFF at Chesapeake Farms in Kent County, I had some nice grassland birds in
Cecil County. Approximately 2 miles from the intersection of RTE 213 and Middle Neck Rd. in Warwick,
I had a singing GRASSHOPPER SPARROW on a fence post across from a soy field. Next, planning to
continue to Chesapeake Farms, I stopped at several promising looking grassland areas. I had a
gorgeous Male DICKCISSEL singing it's little heart out, not far from Galena. It was singing on top of an
arborvitae at the intersection of New Cut Rd and Sandy Bottom Rd., in what looks like a fairly new
housing development. The final prize was of course the RUFF. Also heard a GRASSHOPPER SPARROW
in that area as well as hearing more along the tour route off of Rte. 20. Good Birding!
