We decided to take a morning walk on June 7 in Lois Y. Green
Conservation Park, near the Montgomery County Air Park. Never have
visited in the nesting season, so were interested to find out what
might be breeding there.

Most common breeding bird, or at least the most conspicuous, was
FIELD SPARROW, with at least 5 singing birds. It was encouraging,
too, to find 3 singing PRAIRIE WARBLER, 3 active and "singing"
YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, 4 COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, 1 YELLOW WARBLER and 1
WILLOW FLYCATCHER. Other birds of note, present in some numbers were
ORCHARD ORIOLE and INDIGO BUNTING.

We did not cover the entire park, as we got a late start and the heat
was building.
