I have not [yet] listed a Summer Tanager (SUTA) ad Soldiers Delight this
year. In the last 6 weeks I have visited SD four times and I did not list
the singing bird I thought I had in early May. I think itıs time for the
Super Ultimate Tanager Attestation Search ‹ yes, the SUTA Search. Iım sure
they will turn up soon ...if not, Iıll post my results through teary eyes.

Went for a swim around SD late this AM. Didn't get there until 9:30. Found
that somebody got the bright idea of replacing all the trails with little
rivers. Hate to carp but this is unfair to those of us that don't have
kayaks. We've only averaged about 2" of rain per week since the start of
May, so that can't be it.

Anyway, got the usual nice looks at Pine Warbler, Prairie Warbler and scads
of Towhees, Gnatcatchers and Field Sparrows. However I only saw what I think
may have been one female Summer Tanager and the light was bad so I'm not
real sure of it.
I have not noticed SUTA's mentioned in posts from here this year.
Perhaps Keith Costley, Steve Sanford, David Smith or some of the other SD
regulars can comment. Are they still here? Hate to imagine this place
without them. What would be the point of this place without its headline
attraction? Having SD here on the Piedmont is almost like cheating - you can
get some Coastal Plain critters without the long drive.
