A bit off-topic but ... the logo for the 2009 American Ornithologists' Union meeting in Philadelphia (August 12-15) is one of the finest examples of graphic design I've ever seen. It features the Liberty Bell but the crack is a 3/4 complete outline of a Great Auk, the species logo that appears on the A.O.U.'s journal The Auk. The top reads: AOU - Philadelphia - 2009. Underneath the bell is: Birthplace of American Ornithology. Easy to see this by googling: American Ornithologists' Union, then clicking on: meetings. Best to all. - Harry Armistead, Philadelphia (Birthplace of American Ornithology, q.e.d.).
