Hey everyone-

I've posted a few pictures from a great weekend in Western MD, as well as from a trip to Hart-Miller Island a couple of weekends ago. As Jerry mentioned in an earlier post, we did get 100 species in Garrett on Saturday, with the 100th being a lifer for me: Whip-poor-will calling on Sang Run Rd. Kevin will probably post the full lists with highlights soon.

While this was not the most fantastic trip for photography, it was absolutely fantastic for birds- anytime you get over 20 warbler species in one day in June, you forget how tired you are (we got around 9 hours of sleep over 2 nights) pretty quickly (although the soda, froot loops, and hohos might have helped too). Also, I added 25 birds to my year list, putting me at 237. That 2009 total puts me 68 species ahead of where I was at this date last year, and 5 months (153 days to be exact) ahead of when I got my 237th bird last year (November 8th). School ends this Wednesday for me, so I'm prepping for a crazy summer of birding. It's been a great year already, but let's keep it up :) !

Photos (including my best ever of a Chestnut-Sided Warbler) are up at:
