Hi all,
I went to Violette's Lock this evening in search of the Neotropic
Cormorant discovered by Dave Czaplak. I searched for about an hour with no
success. Just as I got back to the parking lot to leave I ran into Jim
Brighton, Zach Baer, and Hans Holbrook who were just arriving. I decided to
stay and try some more and it paid off. The bird was roosting with a large
group of Double-crested Cormorants in some trees on a small island about 1
mile downstream of Violette's Lock. It was near where the Trumpeter Swans
were earlier this year (also found by Dave!). Thanks to Dave for posting
about the bird and thanks to Hans, Jim, and Zach for sharing their scopes
and knowledge of Neotropic Cormorant identification.
