We were a Hughes Hollow for one hour between 4 and 5PM on July 4th, The first few minutes on the path between the impoundments there was a singing Prothonatory Warbler very visible on the west side and Indigo Buntings also in the open, calling. Also an adult Red-headed Woodpecker that seemed to be hawking insects. We saw two during the one hour period. In addition, we saw a Belted Kingfisher, 3 Great Egrets, 3 Great Blue Herons, many Green Herons, a Fox Sparrow, Eastern Phoebes, Red-winged Blackbirds, Bluebirds, Turkey Vultures, a Wood Duck, a Great-crested Flycatcher, a Blue Grosbeak, Downy Woodpeckers, Common Grackles, Tree Swallows and Wood Pewee. Heard: Common Yellowthroat, Yellow Warbler, Cardinal and House Wren.
