Jane Kostenko and I had a family obligation in the DC area so made a detour out to Violette's Lock to see if we could locate the Neotropic Cormorant. I know that most sightings have been in the afternoon but we knew we wouldn't have time later so we arrived at the parking area at 0900 and tried several vantage points above and below the lock area with no success. We left at 1015.
