Blackwater and vicinity - 7/11/2009

I birded with a friend of mine at Blackwater NWR on Saturday, as well as Cedar Creek Road just to the south. Thanks to all the folks that sent me information on spots near Blackwater-- I only made it to Cedar Creek, and will have to keep the other spots in mind for the future. Overall, an enjoyable day. Highlights included SALTMARSH SHARP-TAILED SPARROWS (at least 4 at the end of Cedar Creek Road), six RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS (along the wildlife loop between stops 4 and 7), single NORTHERN BOBWHTE sitting on a branch "bob-whiting" (Auto stop 4), and the AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN (north of the fisherman bridge on Key Wallace.)
