Hi everyone,

First, sorry I couldn't send this info. sooner.

Yesterday, Tues. 14 July I did my field work out on Poplar Island.
The majority of what Jan Reese had last week was still there,
plus, a few new additions, and higher numbers in some cases.
Because we are conducting nest counts, chick counts & mortality
[to measure productivity] of both Least & Common Terns, there is
little time "to bird".  However, I can usually get in a few minutes here and there to observe a few things. The shorebirds have
increased just since last week.  Most numbers listed here are
estimates.

nearby Coaches Island where there is a breeding colony.

Barn Swallow ~120
BOBOLINK 2 males [Seen by colleague Mike Erwin on MON., 7/13]

I did not read about the King Eider until after I was back
on the mainland.  But, I did not see the 9-10 Surf Scoters that
have been just off the island all summer long.

Good birding to all!
