When you come in off of Rt. 4 on Parran Rd. there is a sign on the NW corner that says something about horse riding at Cage Farm. There is a phone number at the bottom. You can call that number and ask for permission. The alternative is to go down Cage Road onto the private section and stop at the 90 degree right turn. There is an office trailer on the right. Go in and talk to whoever is around. They're not always there and might be in the big house or just around. When I contacted them before the MD Atlas project, they were quite happy to have me on the property.

Regarding Cage Road in Calvert County:  Just for the record, I
stayed on the paved portion of the road (which, as far as I could
tell, appeared to be a public road).  When I got to the end of the
pavement and saw the "private road" sign, I promptly turned around.
I was accosted by the resident while I was still on the paved road.
He was a little more brusque than I'm used to in such situations,
but after we talked about the local birds a bit (including last winter's
Barrow's Goldeneye), he seemed to decide that I was harmless and
wished me, "Enjoy yourself."
