Sorry Norm if I digress from MD.

When I was growing up on a ranch in Southern California we had an old dead manzanita tree outside the kitchen window.  My mother hung multiple hummingbird feeders on it and it was fun to watch them from the house.  She had to refill daily........and went through at least a gallon of sugar water each day.  Yes, there were several feeders.........but there were a lot of birds using them.  House finches (in their native habitat) were big drinkers.......but the top sippers, aside from the hummers (Anna's, Costa's, Black-chinned, Calliope, Allen's and Rufous) were the orioles.........Bullock's, Hooded and the lovely Scott's. I don't remember any woodpeckers joining the feast but it was a fantastic show.

I observed a new feeder at our hummingbird feeder this afternoon. Not sure how common it is for Red Bellied Woodpeckers to drink sugar water, but I have observed this behavior twice. Here is a picture: http://aafta.netfirms.com/Assets/P1010359.JPG
