Had a chance to visit the Assateague OSV zone for an hour or so late
Monday morning on the way back from a North Carolina pelagic trip.
Visibility was limited by fog, making seawatching for distant Brown
Boobies problematic, so I focused my attention on closer birds. Notable
were:

-- An adult Sandwich Tern with a juvenile still begging for food from
the adult. Both sitting up close on the beach (around kilometer marker 25).

-- four breeding plumage Black Terns flying over the ocean and one
flying over the marsh/flats at Fox Hill Level.

-- six Lesser Black-backed Gulls

-- two Caspian Terns among many Royal Terns on the marsh/flats at Fox
Hill Level

-- I sighted 17 Cattle Egrets altogether in Worcester County at three
locations (including two at Fox Hill Level).

-- Piping Plover, Whimbrel, Western Willet

-- Roseate Tern candidate (only a brief distant look, unfortunately)

Tried to swing by Skimmer Island but torrential rains intervened that
overwhelmed the drainage system and briefly flooded some Ocean City
streets with 6 inches of water (!).

Good birding!
