Location: Swan Creek Dredged Material Facility
Observation date: 7/23/09
Notes:
-Very few swallows.
-Male LEAST BITTERN, flushed from the marsh on the right side (where
Stan Arnold had his earlier this year)... at long last, a sought after
County Bird.
-The sight of a BHCB begging for food from an adult RE Vireo was blah.
-PEFA scoped perched on the Key Bridge.
-Watching 4 American Kestrels hovering and hunting simultaneously on
the grassy slope of the East side of the impoundments was thoroughly
enjoyable. The winds coming in off the Bay were keeping all of them
quite busy on the wing. A fifth Kestrel was hanging out in the main
(muddy) impoundment.
-Most LB Herons I've seen here at one time all year.
