Usually I would consider Cecil Shorebirds to be something of an oxymoron, but today I finally had some luck at Courthouse Pt. I arrived around 9am, shortly before the torrential rains started. The pond on the left hand trail had good variety and good numbers of shorebirds. The best birds were a Stilt Sandpiper, 3 Short-billed Dowitchers, and a Western Sandpiper. The most numerous birds were Least Sandpipers, Semipalmated Sandpipers (closeout!), and Lesser Yellowlegs. There was a also a Semipalmated Plover, a Pectoral Sandpiper, a Spotted Sandpiper, and several Killdeer.

With the many Great Egrets were a Snowy Egret and an adult Little Blue Heron.

Most of the shorebirds were on the back shoreline behind the island. The mudflats and shallow area weren't extensive, and I wonder if the heavy rains affected the marginal habitat that there was. Bill Hubick stopped by a few hours later and didn't find the same variety.

My first stop of the day was Conowingo, where I was hoping for Black-crowned Night-herons. There were 2 adults on the Cecil side, and 2 young birds on the Harford side.
