Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from August 3, 2009
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
Note particularly the presence of King Eider, Hudsonian and Marbled
Godwits, Red Knot, Ruddy Turnstone, American Avocets in large numbers, ,
Wilson's Phalarope, large numbers of DC Cormorants and Semipamated
Sandpipers. Lots of migrant shorebird species were present.
