Today at 1435 Maren Gimpel and I count 635 swallows roosting 
Hi all, 

Today at 1435 Maren Gimpel and I count 635 swallows roosting on the telephone wires outside of our house on Chino Farms. Usually I don't like to post things from the yard but the number seemed outstanding. The previous high for the the wires was 246 last week. Around 85 % of the birds were Bank Swallows, the remaining majority were Tree Swallows with only one Barn Swallow mixed in. Unfortunately we could not look at each individual in detail because a tractor flushed them all and only a hundred or so returned. I'm sure there were one or two Cliff and Rough wings mixed in as there were last week.
