A late-morning walk at the American Chestnut Land Trust (Port Republic trails) on Saturday produced no surprises, but a couple of decent photos ops, including a HOODED WARBLER, a WORM-EATING WARBLER, a BLACK RACER about 10' above the ground in vines in a locust tree, and a wildly misplaced WOOD TURTLE, who does not belong on the coastal plain and is probably an escape or a release. (A DNR representative has been contacted and will be picking up the turtle.)
