After work I drove to several places in the county looking for dispersing ibises. My final stop was at Governor Bridge in Bowie where I found a single Common Nighthawk hunting over the pond in a swarm of 24 bats and 10 Chimney Swifts. It was my first of the season and it gave me great views as it would often swoop down to eye level, which is a welcome change to the more common fly-by at about 50 feet high.
Also present were two Barred Owls serenading one another from opposite sides of the pond.
