After seeing various Black Tern sightings reported from around the state I made several unsuccessful to trips to Triadelphia Reservoir trying to find one there. Thought it might be productive to check out reservoir this afternoon after the heavy rains had subsided. Upon arriving at the Greenbridge boat ramp, two Forster's Terns were found sitting on the buoys. Next went over the hill to the "pipeline" area to see if anything of interest was in that area. Saw that a small gravel bar was sticking up in the middle of the reservoir, and six Caspian Terns were roosting there. During the next 20 or so minutes of watching all of them took wing and started fishing around the reservoir. Eventually they started returning back to the gravel bar. When I checked them out again there was a small, dark-backed, dark-billed tern on the gravel bar with them. Closer inspection revealed that it was a Black Tern. Later, the Forster's Terns joined the Caspian and Black Terns, providing a nice comparison of size and color.
