This evening I went to check out the tarps at North Branch for shorebirds.
After scanning for about an hour, I was joined by J.B. Churchill. We had
eleven shorebird species with the best being a single WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER
and a single BAIRD'S SANDPIPER. Complete list follows below:

Location: North Branch
Observation date: 8/26/09
Number of species: 11

Semipalmated Plover 1
Killdeer 40
Spotted Sandpiper 1
Solitary Sandpiper 2
Greater Yellowlegs 2
Lesser Yellowlegs 3
Semipalmated Sandpiper 5
Least Sandpiper 15
White-rumped Sandpiper 1
Baird's Sandpiper 1
Pectoral Sandpiper 1

You've got to love migration!

David
