Pretty slim pickings in the night sky in West Bethesda this
evening: just 2 Common Nighthawks -- one at 8:00 p.m. and the other
2 minutes later. Of course, it could have been the exact same bird,
but I'm an optimist! Also 2 Chimney Swifts and a single American
Robin. Is this exciting or what?
I just looked back at my historical records and see that on this date
in 1998 we had about 100 Nighthawks go over us.
Sic transit Gloria mundi!
