Warning ... geeky nerd bird humor to follow ...


Speaking of nighthawks, many years ago or either MD Osprey or Norm's 
predecessor bulletin board, at this same time of the year, people 
were discussing the passing of the migrating nighthawks. Someone 
mentioned their "distinctive flight style." One of the newer birders 
on the list, who wasn't very familiar with the species came back and 
asked, "What is their flight style like?" One of our droll wits on 
the list (Howard or Elliot?) replied, "Just like a Leach's Storm-Petrel."

I thought that was hilarious, but then again, that's how I roll ...
