I went over to the Youghiegheny Reservoir at the end
of Old Morgantown Road in Garret County this morning,
the last day of August to check out the shorebirds
reported by others in the last few days.

Almost all the shorebirds were well north of the end
of Old Morgantown Road:

Semipalmated Plover--2
Killdeer--35
Lesser Yellowlegs--3
Spotted Sandpiper--2, non-breeding plumage
Semipalmated Sandpiper--12
Least Sandpiper--19
Baird's Sandpiper--1 juvenile
Peep species--20 too distant to ID, presumed
Semipalmated and Least Sandpipers

Also notable, including birds seen along the trail going
south along the river:

Wood Duck--19
Common Merganser--5, all female-type plumage
Great Blue Heron--8
Green Heron--1
Osprey--2, 1 on the nest platform in adult plumage
but acting like an immature bird, 1 adult about 2
miles upstream
Cooper's Hawk--1
Large brownish raptor--1 flushed from woods, Red-
tail sized, but not likely in the woods. Not seen well
enough to ID.
Belted Kingfisher--11, flying about everywhere, very
noisy
Common Raven--1 heard
Brown Thrasher--1 heard spitting
17 other land bird species--usual suspects
