Hi all --

Barry and I went around to a number of DC locations today where (we hoped)
we might run into a shorebird or two, since it didn't appear to be a very
good day for migrants.

Unfortunately, despite visiting Hains Point, Kingman Lake, Anacostia Park
and Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, our sum total of shorebirds were:

3 Greater Yellowlegs
1 Spotted Sandpiper
8 Killdeer

All but the spottie at KAG.

We also had an impressive 700 (count 'em!) Laughing Gulls along the
Anacostia and resting on parking lot at RFK Stadium. Almost all were adults.
Also along the Anacostia, 7-8 Great Egrets and 12 Forster's terns.

Migrants were, as expected, conspicuously absent. Birds of mild interest
included:

1 Common Yellowthroat and Bobolink (heard only) at Hains

and:

1 Phoebe and 1 Waxwing at KAG

Good migratory weather coming however! (oh yes, we had 2 Nighthawks
yesterday evening, at about 7:30)
