Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from August 27, 2009
This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot County, who
continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul Sarbanes
Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.
Note particularly the presence of American Golden Plover and
Marbled Godwit; also six species of terns, many Avocets and many Western
and White-rumped Sandpipers. Two Red-necked Phalaropes were also there.
