Hi all,

I ?woke up rather late? (Jimmy Buffett concert at Nissan Pavillion kept us out till the wee hours)?so I didn't get out right away, but a short tour of the yard revealed I may have missed a good flight. First good bird seen along the back line of cherry trees was a well seen Ovenbird, which flew in and landed in a small tulip tree (ourr only one). I have only 1 other "heard only" record for this bird in our yard in May '08 so this was exciting for me. Great looks as it stood stock still on a branch only a short distance away.

Next I hit the "corner", where I get the most activity with migrants, and it paid off again today. A small yellowish bird was flitting out and chasing Chipping Sparrows around before returning to cover, and it turned out to be a very pale (probably first year female) BLUE-WINGED WARBLER, yard bird #122. It stayed around for quite a while, eventually landing on an open branch and preening for a long time.

The only other migrant of note was a single Black-throated Green Warbler, seen well but it didn't stay long and I watched it fly off through our yard, heading west.

Gotta love migration, when anything can show up anywhere...
