Hi all,

Sorry for the late report, but Jo Anna and I ended up traveling
earlier than expected yesterday (due to a certain kite at Hughes
Hollow) and I didn't have a chance to post. I spent just under 2
hours birding Mattaponi Creek causeway early yesterday morning, and
had some nice birds, it has been quite productive so far this fall,
the complete list is below. The major highlight however came after
when I headed to Selby's Landing, in one of the large snags on the
edge of the corn field near the river, there was an OLIVE-SIDED
FLYCATCHER perched. The bird flew towards the river after a minute or
so, and I didn't have the time to try and relocate it. On the way
back to Ohio, we successfully chased the kite at Hughe's Hollow
(thanks Andy and Lydia!!). We also stopped off in Hagerstown to check
for the LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE, and it was perched in the snag at the back
of the pond. We made it to North Branch in Allegany CO. just as it
was getting dark, the highlight being a single BAIRD'S SANDPIPER among
the others.
