My efforts today were rewarded with a couple of good birds. I started the morning on Taylor's Island in Dorchester County. On my second turn around Bay Shore Dr, I found an adult male Golden-winged Warbler in the woods opposite the entrance to the campground. I got good looks at the head, wings, and body, and nothing indicated a cross with Blue-winged. I had seen Golden-winged only in Garrett and Allegany Counties previously, so this was my first migrant seen in Maryland.
On the drive back, I meandered through Caroline County. The dirt field on south side of Rt 331 west of Preston finally paid off with an American Golden-Plover in with the Killdeer. It was county bird 200 for me in Caroline.
