Hi --

This is a one-time rarity alert to Maryland Birders.

Just returned from weekend away to find that a probable Lesser Sand-plover
(should say it has not yet been definitely ID'd to species) has been found
and continues today at a pond near Staunton, VA. This is a mega-rarity in
the USA.

I spoke to Rob Hilton who is there now and he said the site is about 2 3/4
hours from DC.

All details as well as links to photos can be found on the VA-Bird list,
accessed through Jack Siler's web http://birdingonthe.net
