Preparatory to an upcoming Ches-Audubon field trip, Ruth Bergstrom and I birded Cylburn this morning. The highlight was TWO OLIVE-SIDED flycatchers. They put on a good flycatching show from an evergreen treetop, going long distances and returning, like acrobats in a circus. A GNATCATCHER challenged their perches, briefly, then flew away, heroic but defeated.
We ran into a mini warbler fallout behind the gate to the dumping area. 7 warbler species overall: BLUE-WINGED, CHESTNUT-SIDED, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, PARULA, REDSTART, BLACK-AND WHITE, MAGNOLIA.
