Hi All,
I birded Jackson's Landing this morning before work, there was a lot
of activity in the drizzle! Some highlights were an OLIVE-SIDED
FLYCATCHER perched on a snag in the parking area near the canoe
launch, a PHILADELPHIA VIREO at the wooden overlook structure along
the trail that goes south from the parking area, and singles of
YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER, PROTHONOTARY WARBLER and TENNESSEE WARBLER
in the mixed flock at the actual boat launch. It was fascinating to
see just how cautious birds can be about crossing open areas; on
multiple occasions, small groups of birds would fly out from the trees
at the boat launch to cross the marsh to the next group of trees,
maybe 75 yards away, only to turn back after 10 feet in the open.
