On our first full day of coverage this season we counted 143 migrating raptors at the Cromwell Valley Park HawkWatch. Some scattered clouds in the morning gave way to clear blue skies in the afternoon, making it a challenge to pick out the Broad-wings which were traveling as single birds until late in the day when some small groups were seen. The next week or so should bring significant numbers, and beginning on Tuesday the 15th I hope to conduct a hawk-count from Federal Hill in downtown Baltimore in order to see where the Broad-wings pass over the city.
