I have just heard from one of the shareholders of Wroten Island, Dorchester County, that they will be conducting a fundraiser for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation this coming Saturday, September 19. They would like to have someone who is a skilled birder lead a birding trip there and then. Please see the contact information below.
Wroten Island is in the Honga River due east of Hooper’s Island, is several hundred acres, and is accessible only by boat. It has extensive saltmarsh, some beach, woodlands, and, of course, much tidal water. Last winter a Snowy Owl was seen there.
If you feel qualified please contact James Riordan as soon as possible. He apologizes for the short notice. This is all the detail I know. Here’s an excellent opportunity to bird a prime, seldom (if ever?) birded area, do a good deed, and meet some fine people. Pro bono tax writeoff, too?
If you do this please send me your list and numbers so I can add them to those of other parties participating in the 14th Dorchester County Fall Bird Count. I’d do it myself but am obliged to stick to my traditional route on the count for the sake of consistency.
            Thanks.

James Riordan
