Hi all,

?

I just came in from a bit of gardening, and when I looked up saw a few Broad-wined Hawks circling over head, north of our property and heading WSW. After a bit I began to pick up more, then many more, peppering the sky for a while. I didn't keep count, rather just enjoying the spectacle itself, but would estimate there were 200+ birds.

Also, the hummer numbers dropped between yesterday and today, so I am leaving just 2 feeders up for now. My first hummer didn't show up till mid-morning, so the local birds seemed to have gone last night.

A few migrants this morning in the yard: Redstart, Parula, Black & White, and Ovenbird, as well as Red-eyed Vireo, BG Gnatcatcher (only my 3rd record, all late summer-early autumn), a large flock of waxwings, a few Flickers, Phoebes, House and Carolina Wrens, etc.

Enjoy the beautiful day!
