Dear All

Frank Hawkins and I did another Black-headed Gull search this morning, but more focussed around Hains Pt. We found a lot of Laughing Gulls again - conservative estimate of 3000 on the golf course, Washington Channel and up the Anacostia - but nothing else of note. 1 Caspian Tern, 1 Forster's Tern, 1 Merlin.

There were, however, some landbirds in the bushes and we tallied up the following warblers:

Yellow-rumped Warler 1
Palm Warbler 8
Blackpoll Warbler 2
Yellow warbler 4
Yellow throat 4
Parula 6

And best of all a Traill's Flycatcher which didn't show brilliantly but did call and on consulting the books was a cert for an Alder Fly. It was in the trees around the maintenance yard near the end of Hains Pt.

Cheers

Gary
