Hi,
Geraldine and I saw a Buff-breasted Sandpiper in the expansive dirt
fields South-west of the corner of Rt 85 and Adamstown Roads. We first
saw the bird Saturday at about 5:00 (in the driving rain) and then
returned on Sunday with the hopes we could see the bird in better light.
We were joined by Robert and Mike Ostrowski, and they were able to
relocate the bird. We were also joined by a friendly couple from the
Frederick County Bird Club but I am afraid I can't remember their names.
It was with a large group of Killdeer and both times it was hanging out
just over the hill from the nice parking area at the corner. We had
better views from along Adamstown road but be careful of the traffic.
The road is quite busy, there is absolutely no shoulder, and there is a
lot of Poison Ivy along the road.
Sorry for the late post but I couldn't post to MDOSPREY from home for
some reason.
Tom
