Good morning,
I birded the area yesterday morning, mainly on my farm. The weather was very odd with 3 cycles of fog, clearing and fog before it finally cleared around 10 AM. But it did not have too much of an effect on the activity. The most active spot was around my food plot (2 acres of sunflowers and sorghum) on the DE side. A mixed flock in the corner of woods behind the food plot had 2 Cape Mays (1 imm male, 1 imm female), a imm. male Nashville and a late date YB Cuckoo (the cuckoo in MD). The food plot, and adjacent fields, has a flock of about 40 Goldfinch, 15 Indigo Bunting still here (though Blue Grosbeak numbers are down to 3) and a smattering of arriving sparrows (6 Savannah, 1 Song, 2 Swamp) and at least 1 Grasshopper Sparrow still here. The other good group that I found was at the pond at the back of my property (MD side), where a mixed flock held another imm female Cape May, a female Black-throated Green and a FOS Golden-crowned Kinglet. The Nashville and BTG were new for the year (up to 142). 56 species for the day with 8 warblers.
This morning, I get an excited phone call from Shelly. She walked out of the house at the right moment to find 2 immature Red-headed Woodpeckers in the yard. Since I have not seen these at home, I am quite jealous. Maybe they will hang around until I get home from work.

Good Birding,
