Uneventful walk at Hashawa this AM but for one bird - I was eyeballing a Towhee thru my bins when an OVENBIRD jumped into the picture right in front of the Towhee. Definitely a case of upstaging.
If memory serves me (and it rarely does anymore), the record I set in this category (the lastest Ovenbird in Carroll County history, including the native Americans that kept very careful records of this stuff) was only about a week from now. This is the 5th of Oct. Bob can correct me but I think the record was somewhere around the 12th.
Unfortunately I had no crazy glue on me to make an attempt to keep the bird around another week. Wasn't much else out there but a few Kinglets. We are way past peak on Migration.
