With winds out of the SW and warm temperatures forecast for Friday, I did not expect much of a hawk flight. I thought some would be seen since we had a pretty good day on Thursday, including 44 Sharp-shinned Hawks. We were pleasantly surprised with a steady movement of migrating hawks from beginning to end! After checking the tallies of several other watch-sites north and west of us, it appears the west wind pushed the birds from the mountain ridges towards us at the more coastal sites. We had higher numbers than many of the well known watch-sites in the area. We had to leave at 3:00 PM, and the hawks were still coming as we left.
