Hi all --

Took about an hour out of a busy morning to visit Brookside Gardens and the
Pine Lake area of Wheaton Regional park this AM. It was cloudy with
scattered bits of sun for about the first half hour, wind from the SW. Then
it became increasingly windy, overcast and spitting a bit of rain as the
wind started to veer around -- by the time we got home at 9:15 our weather
vane indicated a NW wind. If it clears it could be good tomorrow.

Fewer migrants than yesterday but we found a (same?) flock at the south end
of Pine Lake foraging in willows -- anchored by tits and chickadees and with
a small following of migrants including a number of Golden-crowned Kinglets,
the first we have seen this season. Catbird number holding steady in the low
double digits. A number of jays, robins and flickers in the gardens.

Birds of interest:

Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1
Cooper's Hawk - 1
Pied-bill Grebe - 1
Eastern Phoebe - 3
Gray Catbird - 12
Winter Wren - 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler - 2 (male)
Black-throated Green Warbler - 1
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 6
Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 5
Eastern Towhee - 3
Swamp Sparrow - 1
