Like other groups across the State, the Patuxent Bird Club/Prince George's Audubon Society will be having the 4th annual Schoolhouse Pond Big Sit tomorrow, Sunday, October 11. I will be at the rear observation platform from dawn until dusk. If you are near Upper Marlboro tomorrow, feel free to join us for an hour or two or for the entire day. In the previous three years, we've seen 64, 66, and 65 species respectively. There is parking along Governor Oden Bowie Drive and you do not have to feed the meters on the weekend.

Our team is the Upper Marlboro Flaming County Seaters (I've witnessed the court house on fire twice in the last five years) and the more observers the better. The rear observation platform is about 2/5 of mile from the road and has been reconstructed to include a bench along one side (which is good for folks who don't bring chairs). No reservations or RSVP are necessary. I hope to see some birders there tomorrow and good luck regardless of where you end up sitting.
