Not having seen a Ross's Goose in a few years I decided today to try for the one reported in Kent County and check out some other locations. First I stopped at the Chestertown WWTP where the Red-necked Phalarope was consorting with the Ruddy Duck flock in the middle of the pond. Other birds of interest there were a female Ring-necked Duck and about 10 Caspian Terns.

My second stop was Great Oak Pond. With about 20 minutes of searching I saw the adult Ross's Goose in the water milling around with the Snows and Canadas.

I also visited Eastern Neck NWR where there was a lot of passerine activity. Highlights there were a Green Heron, a fly-by Merlin, 5 Forster's Terns, a Chimney Swift, a White-eyed Vireo, two Brown-headed Nuthatches (on Bogles Wharf Road where Rick Blom and I heard one over two decades ago), a Hermit Thrush, and a male Black-throated Blue Warbler. Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Myrtle Warblers, and Palm Warblers were everywhere.
