Good morning birding family:

I am pleased to say yesterday and today I have had dark eyed junco's, white
throated sparrows and yellow rumped warblers in my yard here in Callaway (St
Mary's county) MD.

I have also had bald eagles, red tailed hawk and palm warblers. Looks like
the cool weather is bringing back our fall/winter friends.

The young blue birds that hatched out in my back yard this year have been
checking out the boxes again and hanging out several times a day for a
couple weeks now.

I know the next lines are not about Maryland birds but I thought some of you
may still be interested.

I went to Bombay Hook Sat.-Mon. and the snow geese are coming in by the
thousands. Lots of immature this year and 20 plus blue morphs with their
dark young birds.

Had a Ross's goose and a greater white fronted goose along with a Northern
harrier trying to find dinner. Had my first Sora's (2) and some willets
are still hanging out.

Several hundred avocets so far, Canada geese steady coming in, one glossy
ibis, still quite a few shorebirds and 1 reddish egret in the tidal area.

There were at least 4 snow geese with yellow tags but too far away for me to
read. My equipment doesn't reach as far out as I "wish" it would.

*Phil Davis* Thank you for your kind words concerning the sighting of the
ringed teals and the man who sighted them is Peter Palumbo and can be
reached at

Happy Birding to all,

Patricia Viola Rose
