While birding at Selby’s landing (overlooking Jug Bay) this afternoon, about 3 PM, I saw six snow geese in formation overhead. We were looking from Selby’s over the river towards Jug Bay Wetland Sanctuary. We had 3 people confirm the black wing tips and big white goose bodies, so I’m very confident in this sighting.

Less confident is where the county lines were beneath their bodies at any given time. I’m certain they were fully on the east side of the river when first sighted, and believe that makes them AA County birds. They were also over water part of the time, so undoubtedly the just MUST have also crossed into PG county!!

Interestingly, this small flock was heading mostly north, turning NE as they flew out of sight (back over AA County). Assuming they really wanted to be out somewhere like Blackwater, maybe the emerging sunshine this afternoon let them re-orient a rainy-weather induced migratory over-flight.
