Feral cats
OK, I'll throw the match: There is a county-sanctioned feral cat colony in
central Calvert County, on a property otherwise described as a tree farm.
It is a large expanse of beautiful woods with wetlands, nowhere near any
development. There are cat shelters and feeding stations.
I atlassed in these woods and there are many bird species, but heaven knows
how they can be reproducing successfully. I remember seeing a fledgling
wood thrush at one point, with an orange cat in the background.
This seems to be so politically connected that no one is willing to take
action. I believe it is a county commissioner who feels that providing a
haven for homeless cats is an appropriate use for the property.
