I spent a few hours at Sandy Point this afternoon. Highlights included a juvenile Sanderling on one of the jetties. The bird was foraging on the rocks. Also seen were two Brant. I saw them first in flight over the bay, and then by the same jetty frequented by the Sanderling. The jetty in question was near the parking lot overlooking the lighthouse.

There were only small numbers of gulls on the beach, perhaps due to the large number of people during the pleasant afternoon. Gulls included Great Black-backed, Herring, Ring-billed, and just a few Laughing Gulls. Also seen was one 1st winter Bonaparte's Gull flying north over the bay. There were also 20 or so Forster's Terns flying over the bay in the vicinity of the lighthouse. There were also large numbers of cormorants flying over the water, but the only duck I could find was a lone female Red-breasted Merganser.
