Hello all,
I tallied 52 species in my rounds about the Oak Grove area yesterday morning. I noticed a stream of gulls passing by the house from SW to NE, but could not tell anything looking into the terrible sun glare. So I headed over to Oak Grove Rd to see if there were any gulls in the fields and puddles. Sure enough there were and I started sifting through them. Every time I started to count, they would shuffle the deck. On the third round of this, a first winter Iceland Gull appeared in front of me (on the Caroline side). Before I could get out the scope, it picked up again and never came back. Oh well, a nice county bird anyway. The remaining gulls were 350 Ringers, 50 Laughers and 10 Herring. In addition to that, FOS Tundra Swan (11 flyby), FOS Sapsucker in the yard, 8 E Meadowlark (really scarce here in recent years) 2 western Palm Warbler.
Good birding,
