I too just cleaned the "first layer' from the deck, where we have roughly 10-12 inches so far. Makes it easier for the dog to go out and do his business.

Lots of activity at the feeders and fountain today, though I have run out of niger. The finches will have to subsist on black oil, millet, peanuts or whatever else they can scrounge . I made sure to throw handfuls under the shrubs where it is relatively clear of snow, so the sparrows will have a good time.

Enjoy the beautiful snow!

I hope nobody does any birding today. This is a day we should all be good
itizens and stay off the roads. Backyard birding only please!
At an inch an hour (the current rate) we can easily go over 30" in this one.
hen I was a kid in NW PA this would have been just another day - except for
uly and August. We didn't get much snow in those months. Bad sledding days.
