I saw a squirrel grab a bird beneath one of my feeders once several years
ago. I don't recall for certain, but I think the bird was a House Finch.
Anyhow, at the time I was quite surprised, but felt that the birds must know
of such thing, for most of them are very careful to keep out of reach of the
squirrels. (The squirrel promptly killed and ate the bird.)

I know sparrow/birds are very wary of squirrels around my ground feeders.
Has anybody every seen a squirrel take a bird? I know from literature that
they are occasionally omnivorous.
